[Huhb-lah]

About Habla Pottery

Purpose

Silly Memories

The name "Habla" comes from the Arabic word for "silly," and that silly spirit is at the heart of everything created. In the beginning, the approach was to not feel boxed into creating pieces that were overly serious. Instead, have the freedom to experiment, to take an informal approach, and to craft pieces that feel authentic and maybe even a little funny. Every piece is a reflection of Middle Eastern memories and the creativity around being able to embrace imperfection.

HandMade

One of One

Habla Pottery began as a labor of love. For the first two years, every piece made was sent to friends and family for their birthdays, holidays, or just because. We never wanted to keep pieces to ourselves as each item was inspired by a person or a memory.

Over time, people asked if they could purchase our pottery directly. At first, we were hesitant, concerned that selling such personal pieces might take away from the joy of creating them. Ultimately, we decided to list our work, curious to see if it resonates with others. We’re excited to share these pieces with you and invite you to explore the collection—perhaps one of them will find its way into your home.

We're small,

It's Personal

We are a Palestinian-Yemeni couple where we make all the pieces in our home studio in Los Angeles, California. Everything is done ourselves—from throwing the ball of clay on the wheel to carefully packing it up for shipping. Habla Pottery isn’t about buying just another piece of ceramic from a retailer; it’s about finding an item that you resonate with personally.
